Great boot for hard to fit March 22, 2008
Reviewer: Steven Eng from San Francisco Bay Area

I purchased this boot after trying similar models from Vasque and Lowa. I am difficult to fit because I have a narrow heal and flat feet (low arch). Plus I have one foot 1/2 size larger than the other which compounds fit problems. Specifically, this boot has a flat foot bed that allows customization of the arch support placement which is especially important for me. I will be using these boots for hiking and backpacking in the Sierras.

World Class Boot January 02, 2008
Reviewer: Andy from Iraq
Shoe Size: Felt true to size

While no boot will ever be "perfect", this one has appeal in a wide range of applications. I am in Army Special Forces and wear this boot near daily both in America as well as combat operations in Iraq. My daily kit weighs about 70 pounds, which was a little too much for the thin insole that comes with the boot, but a pair of Dr. Scholls work boot insoles solved that problem. It provides decent ankle support for a mid-height boot, is stiff enough for hiking, but is still light enough for prolonged periods of running, with or without weight. The GORTEX liner has kept me dry in a few puddles, but I've been mostly in the desert. The boot is warm (once again... I'm in the desert), but anything waterproof is going to have that drawback. It took about a month of steady wear to break in just right. I don't reccomend your first walk being 10-12 miles in them, but suit yourself.

tough break-in period March 22, 2007
Reviewer: Pam from western NY
Shoe Size: Felt true to size
Fit seemed perfect in store. Did the walk around, compared them to other boots. Have worn and hiked extensively for over 2 weeks now and still have hot spots on insides of ankles. Major hike coming up soon and getting worried these boots will not be "broke" by then.

Asolo Fugitive February 22, 2007
Reviewer: Bob from Middle Tennessee- Cumberland Plateau
Shoe Size: Felt true to size
Shoe Width: Felt true to width
Based on price and performance, I had narrowed my shopping down to the Vasque Breeze and the Asolo Fugitive when I noticed several reviews that stated the Asolo was a true fit right out of the box. It was as good a fit as advertised. I am still breaking them in, although they are plenty comfortable- expect to go on a ten-mile hike within two weeks in them. The soles are very grippy as well, which should be good on the large rocks I often hike over.
Wears this shoe: Hiking mainly

Great Boot April 10, 2006
Reviewer: Craig from Oklahoma
Shoe Size: Felt true to size
Shoe Width: Felt true to width
Just got back from the Butterfield Hiking Trail in Arkansas. It was slightly muddy and extremely rocky. I crossed streams stepped in mud clanked the boot off many a rock and had absolutely no problems at all. Great boot. The only drawback is the toungue needs a bit of break-in to feel just right. Other than that you're good to go.
Wears this shoe: hiking every day use

Great Boot for the Price February 09, 2006
Reviewer: Nate from New York
Shoe Size: Felt true to size
Shoe Width: Felt true to width
So far I've found the Fugitive to be a great choice. It is both very supportive and durable, while also being relatively lightweight. I haven't had a chance to try out the full waterproofedness, but I expect Asolo to live up to the claims - it's a great shoe company. The size was perfect - maybe just a hair roomier in length than expected, but nothing that would make me consider a half-size smaller. It's snug enough to not slip, but roomy enough for a thicker pair of socks. My only concern is that I do feel a slight pressure on the outeredge of each of my big toes. Not enough to consider a 'pinch' but noticable. I do have wider than usual feet though, and I'm hoping that after breaking the shoe in this will go away. Already after a few miles of hike it wasn't noticable.
Wears this shoe: Light to medium hiking.
