Not what I had hoped.

I bought the Orthofeet 581 high-tops because I was looking for a little more ankle support. I was willing to put up with the hook-and-loop geezer look if they would be comfortable, but they're not comfortable. If I close them as tight as they will go, they hurt my arch, but they slip up and down on my ankles. If I loosen them enough to not hurt my arch, they feel as if they're about to fall off. I expect the slippage to cause the ankle padding to wear through in a few months. The opening is too big for a normal-weight person, and the top closure is too far down for a snug fit on my ankles. It may be a size issue, but I think I'll go back to New Balance lace-ups next time. The good news is that the hook-and-loop closures let me take them off quickly.

The shoe is nice but it is like one is wider then the other. Otherwise they are good shoes.

I bought these Orthofeet 581 boots for their therapeutic characteristics. The ShoeBuy description said the boot was approved by Medicare and I considered that in my decision to buy them. I wanted something that would support a weak ankle without making it necessary to wear an orthopedic brace and I decided to try the boots. As it has turned out, the Orthofeet 581 boots are working out very well. I have taken them on a number of long walks, they have kept my ankle pain free and accommodate my prescription orthotics nicely. They will not make any fashion statements, but don' look like orthopedic footwear either. If you don' mind wearing a shoe called Orthofeet 581 this footwear is for you. The Orthofeet 581 is well made, and functional.
