I bought these shoes for my diabetic brother. He has only been able to wear sneakers because everything else causes him pain. He told me these were perfect and very comfortable.

Both my boys are autistic with special foot needs. My older boy has flat feet and also requires some ankle support. I bought orthofeet for him to try because they offered adjustable straps and high tops to support the ankles. He also has feet that point outwards (penguin feet). When his shoes arrived I was very pleased with them. They are soft and comfortable yet provide the supports he needs. Before finding your site on the web I had hunted high and low for shoes for him. At one time we went to an orthopedist and he was given some very ugly shoes with orthotics in them which he found very uncomfortable to wear. A lot of money for nothing! He is very happy however with the orthofeet shoes and he is limping a lot less these days. They have even helped some with the penguin foot syndrome. We will order another pair soon to have on hand when these wear out. Keep up the good work. We will definitely refer others to shoebuy.com. Thank you

Perhaps the best orthotic shoe

The Orthofeet seem to be one of the best orthotic shoe. Unlike Drew, the straps go through plastic holders that makes them easier to adjust. (The Drew shoes have a nice leather, though.) Also, Orthofeet has better control over shoe size. My Drews and Propets of the same size are different sizes.

Not what I had hoped.

I bought the Orthofeet 581 high-tops because I was looking for a little more ankle support. I was willing to put up with the hook-and-loop geezer look if they would be comfortable, but they're not comfortable. If I close them as tight as they will go, they hurt my arch, but they slip up and down on my ankles. If I loosen them enough to not hurt my arch, they feel as if they're about to fall off. I expect the slippage to cause the ankle padding to wear through in a few months. The opening is too big for a normal-weight person, and the top closure is too far down for a snug fit on my ankles. It may be a size issue, but I think I'll go back to New Balance lace-ups next time. The good news is that the hook-and-loop closures let me take them off quickly.
Wears this shoe: Whenever I have to wear shoes.
