Plaid shoes are shoes that feature uppers with crossed color stripes over a contrasting solid color to create a check pattern inspired by the Scottish tartans. Plaid shoes may be made in any variety of materials, such as leather or canvas. Plaid designs have had a punk fashion reference in past but more recently it has been revived to convey a more youthful, colorful and fresh look to wear all year round in footwear.
