I bought this boot because I live in a desert climate and it best fit the environment I live in. It is light weight, and has a good sole. What I don't like is having to try to lace the shoestrings through each eyelet. I prefer using regular open round eyelets opposed to enclosed eyelets because it's faster and as the tips of the shoelaces become worn it becomes harder to thread through the eyelet.

I've hike for days at a time in the Mojave Desert and Death Valley wearing these boots. They hold up well and are very cool. The eyelit patten allows you to lace the toe box tighter than the upper, which is good for going downhill with a pack on. The only problem is that, since so much of the boot is made out of chemically-treated cardboard, you don't want to get them soaked.
