These shoes are just what I needed and wanted. I basically spend my life in sneakers and sandals; any shoes I have are rugged casual shoes. I needed some more formal footwear, and these J & M's are perfect: looks serious enough for a suit and feels comfortable from the first step. My wife, who had found them on Shoebuy knowing my requirements, thinks I finally look like a grown-up; so if you need dress shoes but still want to be yourself, these J & M's are a fine fit.

Uncomfortable and unsatisfied

The shoes are very nice looking and appear to be well-constructed, but ultimately are uncomfortable to wear. The problem is that the sides that wrap around the ankle are constructed in such a way that the material rubs against the ankle, right below the ankle-bone, to the point of being raw.Initially, the sides of the shoe were too high, and the material was rubbing directly across the ankle-bone. To provide more lift, I purchased a pair of gel insoles, which addressed the original issue. However, I immediately noticed that the material was still rubbing against the skin, through the socks, making the area raw and open. Hoping the issue would correct itself over time by breaking the shoe in, I decided to wear them for a week. Unfortunately, the situation did not change. Because the shoe had been worn, I am not able to return the product for a full refund now.I have never had this issue with other manufacturers, and will definitely not order another Johnston & Murphy Durst shoe product again. I've also never purchased shoes directly online before, and will think twice before doing that again - There is much to be said about having the ability to test the shoe comfort before making a purchase, as is the case in a department store. That said, I will say that purchasing through shoebuy.com was straightforward and uncomplicated, and have nothing but positive comments about the purchase experience overall.

They feel like my old J&M's before my sister in law's boyfriend stole my 2 pair.Really, who steals used shoes? They would have been on their 6th year and still feeling great. No break-in time!! If you're on your feet alot-buy these!!
