A Cuban Heel is a broad heel that is angled at the back, straight in the front, and tapers to a slightly narrower base. A Cuban heel is of moderate height and the base is fairly broad. Cuban heels are found on many styles of men's and women's shoes including boots, sandals, and pumps. A famous example of Cuban heels is the style of chelsea boots worn by the Beatles in the 60's. Cuban heels are sometimes referred to as Latin heels, as well.

Based on the standards of width fitting set by the footwear industry, wide width boots are described as broad boots measuring 3.8" to 4.4" at the ball of the foot for men sizes 6 to 11. Wide width boots are given the letters E and W. Letters or numbers in front of the main letter will indicate a wider width. For example, EE or 4E indicates a wider width than E.
