Footwear that rises to the ankle or higher; can be casual or dressy, practical or fashionable. Boots that are designed for protection from the elements may be made of a single, closely-stitched piece of leather, rubber, or other material to prevent the entry of water, mud or dirt. Other types of boots are sturdy in nature, intended for protection in wilderness or industrial settings. Fashionable boots for men and women may have all the variations seen in other shoe styles, including high heels, platforms, and lacings.

Winter is characterized by cold weather, with snow and ice on the higher latitudes.

These boots are exactly what I was looking for--something stylish enough for the city, but practical enough to survive the cold and wet New England winters. These are very comfortable to walk around in, they have a nice soft sole. I will say that I have very narrow calves, and these boots fit me pretty snugly with a pair of jeans tucked in. If you have large calves, these might not be comfortable.

This boot is great, but I would buy a 1/2 size larger. I usually wear a 7.5 or 8. I bought an 8 and it is a little tight. These boots will definately keep your feet warm and they have great treads on the bottom.

The North Face McMurdo II Horrible

These boots are stiff as board, therefore hard to walk in. They are very tight on your feet ( I couldn't wiggle my toes at all!) and my toes were frozen numb after less than 2 hrs. outside on a 30 degree day. I love northface but I do not recommend THESE boots to anyone. I'd send them back but I prematurely threw the box out before I wore them. Very disappointed....
