Cowboy boots are a specific style of boot, historically worn by cowboys. Cowboy boots have a high heel, rounded to pointed toe, high shaft, and no lacing. Cowboy boots are normally made from cowhide leather but are also sometimes made from exotic skins such as alligator, snake, ostrich, lizard, eel, elephant, sting ray, elk, or buffalo.
Western refers to any article of clothing or footwear that features characteristics of rustic, cowboy, or mountain style of the American West. Western style footwear often feature high shafts with elaborate stitching and pull straps at each side of the collar.
