Neutral pronation is the natural rolling motion of the foot as it flexes and rolls with each step to help absorb the shock more effectively while allowing the foot and ankle to properly support the body. In neutral pronation, the outside of the heel strikes the ground first and the foot rolls slightly. A five to fifteen percent inward rolling is considered normal or neutral. People with normal arches tend to have neutral pronation.
