Also the shaft of the leg is wider than most regular boots. I have a smaller leg so it's really noticeable. On the plus side, extremely comfortable to wear as to be expected from Clarks. Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Comfortable--I can wear these all day and never even think about it! Footbed support and flexible sole are great. Nice roomy toe area. And I get compliments all the time--they look great. They look "rich." The leather is high-quality. I sprayed them with water-proofing spray and they are even good in the snow. Also, I have a 17 inch calf and they fit! There is some gusseting that "gives" a little, without looking weird. I am also six feet tall and they come up to just a couple of inches under my knee. I am a size 12, so it's hard to buy shoes. I am thrilled with these--I looked for boots on the internet for over five months to find the PERFECT pair, and THESE ARE IT! I would buy these again in a minute! Wears this shoe: Work, going out, running errands. Yucky weather and good weather.

So if you have narrow feet and tiny calves you might think they are too bulky. I am probably on the wider normal and my legs are not big but definitely not skinny. I think these boots are great and I got a great sale! Wears this shoe: all the time
